Camino de Santiago (2)

  • Scallop shells, which symbolize the Camino, along with an abundance of signs and arrows point pilgrims in the right direction.
  • We walk by many vineyards. It is harvest time.
  • We enjoy meeting fellow peregrinos (pilgrims) from all over the world. We wish one another "buen Camino" (good luck and happy traveling).
  • We meet a young woman from Belgium and her three boys, aged 4, 6 and 9, traveling with a dog and a donkey. The donkey carries their supplies and camping gear.
  • The rolling hills, fields, vast landscape and big open skies are incredible. Our camera cannot capture all that our eyes observe.
  • We are thankful for clean, cool water; good meals; cooling winds; breathtaking scenery; fields of sunflowers; clean air; locals who bless us with their produce and prayers; Spanish hospitality; hot showers and a good night's sleep.
  • A real treat is staying one night in a monastery that has been converted into a hotel.
  • Life can be perceived as a pilgrimage, and the Camino pilgrimage is a school for living.
  • We highly recommend the book The Way Is Made By Walking, and the movie The Way, as preparation for walking the Camino.

go out of your way

Hello, everyone. Thanks for joining us on Info Cloud today. One of my favorite things about Taipei is all the great tea shops. My favorite shop is too far away, though. It's all the way on the other side of town.

I know which tea shop you're talking about. Hey, during the break, I can go get us some drinks there.

Oh. That's OK, Rex. You don't have to go out of your way to pick it up. I'll just have some next time when I'm in the area.

If you say so. That's a good phrase you used. Let's take a minute to teach it to our students: to go out of your way.

We usually say this when someone offers to do us a favor, like how Rex offered to pick up the tea I like.

When Anne Marie said, "Don't go out of your way," she meant that I shouldn't make a special trip or go there if I wasn't already planning on it.

You could go out of your way to do something or say something nice.

That's right. Like yesterday, my wife went out of her way to pack me a healthy lunch. That was so nice of her.

That is nice. How could you go out of your way to help someone today?

當有人特別花心思,為你做了一件令你感動的事情,你可以用今天分享的這個用語 go out of your way 來形容。go out of your way 字面上就是「離開你原本在走的路上」,也就是說:有人,不是順便喔,而是特別為你做了一件事情。Thanks for going out of your way to help me. 謝謝你特別做了這件事情來幫助我。如果你事前知道對方可能會這麼做的時候,你也可以說: Don’t go out of your way. 你不需要特別去做這件事情,這樣對你很不方便。雖然會造成一些不方便,但是我們可以想一想每一天要怎麼樣 go out of your way 去幫助別人。
